Here we are at Throwback Thursday week seven—more than halfway through the How-To process of fabric collage!
Below is the list of all the posts we have covered and will be covering over these first three months of 2021. This can be a ready-made New Year’s resolution for those of you wish to begin (or continue) a fabric collage project. Click on any of those links to catch up or work ahead.
We’re challenging you to: pick a subject and work on it through the three months, week-by-week. Do your homework (a.k.a. read the posts) through each month, then attend the meeting at the end of the month to ask questions pertaining to those four posts. Got that? Send your images and/or questions for the meeting to Tom: [email protected]. Please include “Thursday Night” in the subject head. Thanks! I look forward to seeing you there!
You’ll see that next Thursday post will be covering backgrounds and then that evening, February 25th, we’ll meet up for a Thursday Night in My Studio Live! presentation. In the live Zoom meeting I’ll answer any questions and provide demonstrations based on the four topics covered in February. Be sure to register for this evening of fabric collage Q&A.
This week’s Throwback Thursday post is about sequence, the order in which you create your fabric collage. In this post I mostly concentrate on the secrets for how to deal with the “between” pieces, the thin dividing lines between shapes, such as veins in a butterfly wing (above) or plates in a turtle’s shell. In a new sequence post this Saturday I’ll cover the proper order in which to approach a face, so as they say, stay tuned for Part 2.
Last month, we got off to a great start with this new series of Thursday Night in My Studio Live! presentations for 2021. The first four steps in the fabric collage technique were discussed: choosing a photo, making a pattern, choosing fabric, and creating a palette. If you missed the live event, you can watch a recording of the presentation here: PURCHASE RECORDING $10.
