Today we continue to revisit our past Fabric Collage Finish Line posts with this collection of quilts by Ria Mille, in The Belgian Connection 2. I first met Ria and her friend Rit when they traveled all the way from their homes in Belgium to my hometown of Harpswell, Maine to attend a fabric collage class with me. They both created large and amazing pieces of art. Ria has gone on to produce awe inspiring work—such as her “Born to Be Wild” red wolf portrait, above—that has made her well known in fabric art circles in Europe.
Recently, during my trip to Citta della Pieve, Italy to teach a class last October, I met up with Ria in the neighboring town of Orvieto for a few very fun and lovely hours. She had traveled from Belgium with her sister, I had traveled from the US with my sister, and in a walled medieval town perched on a steep bluff in the middle of Italy, we found a place to reconnect in a very international way. Along with two friends and students in the upcoming class, we spent the day with great sights, absolutely delicious food, and lots of laughs.

Weekly Fabric Collage Coaching
1/2 hour time slots, $65 each
One afternoon a week, I’ll be available to help, encourage, and coach anyone who needs it—between the hours of 1pm-4pm Eastern Time (for instance, this would be between 10am-1pm Pacific Time).
Coaching could be to continue working on an in-progress collage, or to begin a new project—whatever is desired.
Sign-up can be for one day or multiple days—every week, every two weeks, once a month or once only. These sessions will be recorded and emailed to you, just as coaching sessions are, so they can be referred to as needed.
January & February 2026 sign-up dates have come and gone, but new weekly dates will be added starting in May—after a couple in-person classes have also come and gone—and I’m back in my studio. Maybe you can join me then!

I can’t recommend enough this new format. I’ve met with Susan three times since our class (once a week) and each session has been inspiring, motivating, and very helpful in terms of defining my path forward (and also creating some accountability relative to that path…). Before each session, I think about what areas I would like to focus on and send off a photo with my questions. In this way, I get from Susan exactly the support I need, plus a video recording to remember it. Meanwhile, preparing for my session helps me make my project a priority so I see ongoing progress, which is gratifying.
