Tom and I are working hard to keep you creatively entertained and occupied with fabric collage-related happenings—where to begin?
First, let’s start with this week’s Throwback Thursday where we revisit some of the earlier quilts made by users of the Susan Carlson Fabric Collage Online Master Class Manual, such as the moon portrait above by Kathy Kennedy. Remember all you would-be class attendees that this resource is available to you whenever you’re ready—wherever you are in the world.
This Saturday in your regular post we’ll feature spiral quilts created by attendees of my most recent Thursday Night in My Studio Live! series “Is It Drafty in Here? Fabric Collage Drafts.” Using the simple design of a spiral as a sample of how to work in drafts—we worked from the first draft of covering the foundation fabric, to hanging a finished quilt on the wall. A few weeks ago, I wrote a post titled the “Under-Appreciated Fabric Collage Spiral.” Well, the quilts made by my Thursday Night attendees may give you new reason to appreciate spirals.
Thursday Night in My Studio Live! presentations resume next week. I’ll be demonstrating how to adapt my Moon Portrait and Sun Portrait patterns with drawings of individualized features of someone you know.

These Celestial Portrait Patterns: Moon and Sun presentations, are an offshoot of the next big project I’m working on, a Module for the Fabric Collage Master Class Manual titled, appropriately enough, “Celestial Portraits”—planned release is the beginning of 2021 (which is much closer than we think!). This add-on to the Fabric Collage Master Class will walk users through the steps of creating unique Sun and Moon collage quilt projects.
Stay tuned for more information!

While reading one of your blogs, you spoke about tools that you use
The one I am interested in, and cat remember the name, is used to enlarge or decrease the size of a pattern. At least that is how I understood it.
Could you please tell me what it is called, I haven’t been able to find it amongst the blogs I have saved.
Thank you
Kristie Smith
I think the tool you’re referring to is called a proportion wheel. I have a link to it on my Fabric Collage Toolkit page: https://susancarlson.com/fabric-collage-toolkit/
