Birds are a common subject in my fabric collage classes. Their variety and beauty make them very attractive. This TBT features not one but two whole Fabric Collage Finish Line posts chock full o’ birds.

Birds have been on my mind this week as I was writing a post on creating feathers in fabric collage. This Saturday’s post completes a series that began with creating hair (“What’s On Top?: Fabric Collage Hair”) and was continued with a post on fur (“Creating Fur in Fabric Collage”).

Take a look at how each of the artists (such as Tish Atkinson who made the lorikeet above) dealt with the challenge of creating feathers. Then this Saturday, I’ll provide even more examples and talk about the different ways you can tackle this challenge.
