We’re already on Step 6 in the fabric collage process!

If you’ve been following along, you’ll know that I’ve been using Throwback Thursday How-To posts to cover the entire technique of fabric collage. This week we tackle the “Messy-Scary Stage.” This is the point during the piecing of your quilt where you are far enough along to start covering the foundation, but the image itself has yet to really form. You look at the collage and wonder if it will ever resemble your source image. Your enthusiasm starts to get sucked away.

Everyone hits this stage. Being aware of it can help you get through it. Read the TBT below to forewarn and fore-arm yourself.

Over the next two weeks of Throwback Thursdays we’ll cover the importance of sequence in fabric collage and the challenge of backgrounds. Then on February 25, the last Thursday of the month, we’ll host a Thursday Night in My Studio Live! Zoom presentation to discuss the four How-To topics that have been posted this month.

Check out the schedule below for links to all the How-To posts in this series covering the basics of the fabric collage technique. Links are also listed to register for the coordinated Zoom presentations.

We got off to a great start with this series of Thursday Night in My Studio Live! The first four steps in the fabric collage technique were discussed: choosing a photo, making a pattern, choosing fabric, and creating a palette. If you missed the live event, you can watch a recording of the presentation here: PURCHASE RECORDING $10.
