This week I am in Paducah for AQS Quiltweek, a showcase for some of the nation’s most beautiful quilts. My responsibilities while here include hanging out and greeting visitors to my “Specimens” quilt exhibit. I also will be delivering a lecture on Friday at noon.
I’ve also been, with Tom’s help, posting photos and videos to my Facebook page, which is a job in itself. For those of you who missed the Facebook posts or don’t use it, here are some glimpses into the show.
I arrived Monday afternoon. On Tuesday night I attended the preview of the show where I was reunited with my “Monarch Maia” quilt. I’ve already met up with a few quilting friends and hope to run into many more. Make sure you introduce yourself if I don’t seem to recognize you!
Today’s TBT gives you a little preview of my activities so far. Look for even more photos and videos this Saturday in your regular post.
Monarch Maia and her Neighbors
“Monarch Maia” is displayed in her nook with two other gorgeous pieces: “Fire on My Mind” by Melinda Bula and “Canopy” by Julie Bohnsack.
Site Seeing
I haven’t had a whole lot of time yet to explore, but I did find a wonderfully eclectic and funky shop, Terra Cottage. I’ve also discovered my go-to place to eat, Branch Out, which is completely vegan and gluten free. Being able to sample anything on the menu is a rare and sumptuous treat for me.

While in Paducah, I hope you are able to eat to your heart’s content and enjoy every wave of adulation from quilters!
Soak in the praise (your work is beautiful and inspiring) and the sights, enjoy the food, the people and the quilts. It is a special place to be when Festival is on. Wishing I was there, too.
“Fire on my Mind” is likely by Melinda Bula – It looks like her work.
