At the end of August five years ago, we published the very first Finish Line blog post, celebrating a few of my students’ finished fabric collage quilts, including “Zaia” (above) by Quin Brannaka. Little did we realize what an awesome gallery of work this collection of quilts would become. For this Saturday’s regular post, we’ll be presenting the fiftieth installment of “The Finish Line.” Wow! A special thank you to the hundreds of my students who have shared your fabric collage artwork and stories through these posts—they have inspired me and no doubt thousands of others since 2016.

May Tom and I suggest that in this era of binge-watching, why not binge-view some Finish Line posts between now and the Big 50 on Saturday? There’s a wealth of amazing creativity to choose from.

“But how do I find them on your website? There’s so much information!”

Glad you asked.

If you navigate to any blog post, this one or any on my website, look in the right hand column (on a computer) or at the bottom of the page (on iPad or other device), and you’ll find a drop down menu called “Blog Post Categories.” By selecting any one of the drop-down menu items you can sort the website by what you’re interested in finding.

For example if you want to see more of “The Finish Line” posts, select that option.

Here’s a direct link: https://susancarlson.com/category/the-finish-line/

There are other categories to peruse as well—options include links to “How to” (https://susancarlson.com/category/how-to/), posts that specifically refer to the technique of fabric collage, and “Quilt Stories” (https://susancarlson.com/category/quilt-stories/), which describe the stories behind, and the creation of, my own quilts.

If you can’t find what you’re looking for, you can always contact me through my contact page: https://susancarlson.com/contact/ . And if you’d like to submit your own finished fabric collage quilt for a future Finish Line post, please do so using the button below—thank you!
