Last week’s Throwback Thursday was a post about backgrounds for your fabric collage subject. Once that’s done (and if you’re happy with how it all looks together), you may be ready to move on to quilting.

If you’ve never done free-motion machine quilting before, have no fear. It’s not as hard as it might seem. All it takes is a little practice. Assemble some “sandwiches” of top-batting-backing to practice on before putting your collage under the free-motion quilting foot. Then have at it. You’ll pick it up. This week’s TBT describes how I approach free-motion quilting and should be enough get you started as well.

This Saturday in your regular weekly post, I’ll head back to Kalispell, Montana, to tackle my second week of teaching at the Quilt Gallery.
