So far in this new year, there’s already been weeks of shared creativity through new Finish Line posts, monthly feedback through our Patreon meetings, a new online mini-workshop (see in-progress example above) that’s generating new (fishy) fabric collage energy already, and a week where I turned away from the computer, traveled to Arizona, and taught and hugged folks that I had first met in online classes or pre-class coaching. The immediate cohesiveness of that group solidified in my mind how online and in-person can work hand-in-hand. The richness of that class week would not have been possible if we were all just meeting for the first time. I’ll start sharing that particular class in next week’s post.

In the meantime, Tom and I have finalized our Live Online Fabric Collage Class schedule for the rest of 2024—now through November. There are four online classes and four in-person classes scattered throughout the year. There are classes for beginners and classes for those who can work more independently at intermediate or advanced levels. I look forward to seeing both returning faces and new ones. Tom is also looking forward to this—as far as online classes go, he works alongside with me as the computer half who makes my teaching half possible. An online class is a two-for-one-deal. 😉

I’ve realized that in the goal for balance in both my personal and professional lives, the edges have blurred. Students have become my friends—and friends with each other as well—and so much of that has come from online sources. In addition, as a community that I communicate with through this blog, you became a support network for me through trying times. Thank you. I have been able to turn to my own collage artwork, sharing the results with you through my blog posts, plus Fly on the Wall Studio Watch and the Quilter’s Trophy Fish Follow-Along series.

Did you set any goals for the new year? I kinda did, and I’m hoping that my main goal is reasonable—to slow down the pendulum swing of last year. There were a lot of ups and downs in 2023, both losses and achievements. No year is going to be perfect but I’m hoping for some moderation this year—for a manageable fluctuation in life and to keep the creative juices flowing. So far so good.

If pursuing your fabric collage education is a goal for your new year and a 5-day online venue sounds enticing, please check out the dates, information and registration links below.
