A couple weeks ago, I posted a third update of the progress of my son’s moon portrait. Coincidently, I was also into the third “final” draft stage and had finally come up with an arrangement I liked for the background. I’m still working on that third draft, possibly getting a bit carried away with the sheer fabrics I keep discovering in my and my mom’s stash. This week, to mix things up a little, I’ve got a video for you—a closer look at not just what I’m doing with those sheer fabrics, but how I’m doing it.
It’s not like I haven’t talked about sheer fabrics just a few times already in the over 5.5 years of blog posts, but every example is a little different—every collage is different, fabric selections are different. My hope is that you’ll get a little something different out of this post, Part 3.5 of Sam’s moon portrait—now officially titled, “Earthshine.”
You surpassed yourself!! Great demonstration, wonderful teaching video. Beautiful collage of Sam.
This is the Universe in such beauty! So, so beautiful! Thank you!
Patty
It’s Stunning!
Gorgeous work. Really helpful lesson. Helps to see how many layers you have in places to get the result you need. It’s reassuring to see you don’t have to get it “perfect” the first time; you can keep adding until it’s “right.”
I LOVE seeing how you decide to use each piece of fabric. Don’t know that I would’ve ever thought of using those laces. I have a few in my collection. Ha! The lace really pulls those other fabrics together.
Your art is gorgeous!
I loved looking at the moon close up and happened to notice the woman in his ear! Man in the moon…woman in the ear…it’s all very good!
Always worth the price of admission Susan. I learn something new every time you do a demonstration. Sam’s portrait looks better and better.
Susan ~~~. This was a fantastic video. I am definitely going to use various types of sheers on my next collage. Thanks for sharing all your artistic endeavors. Stay healthy and safe. Nancy
It is so fun and educational to watch the progress of Earthshine. I wonder about the use of glittery fabrics. I had a really cheap glitter tulle that just kept shedding glitter even after hairspray. I would love to hear how you deal with that or what types of glitter fabric you buy.
