This title of this week’s Throwback Thursday gave me a little chuckle, a snort of ironic realization. “What are your intentions?” For most of us, our intentions have been completely upended by the pandemic. Certainly, very little of what I intended for this year has happened or is going to happen.

Well, you can dig in your heels and stubbornly insist on holding onto your plans, or you can roll with it and adjust your intentions accordingly. Most of us have either chosen or been forced to adjust.

In this week’s Throwback Thursday post I talk about how intention, if it is well-defined, can help guide our fabric collage quilts. For example, deciding that you are going to work with a certain color palette—as I did when deciding to make my rhino pink, above—is an intention. What I didn’t give enough attention at the time of writing the post is flexibility. Maybe the intent you defined for your quilt isn’t helping you, or is even hindering progress. In this case you have to be flexible enough to change your intent, to roll with it, and come up with a new plan.

Here’s wishing you the flexibility you need to adapt to whatever life throws at you.
