Another week. Another week of using what we’ve got—to make meals, to tidy around the house, to work in a different way, and to create what we can. Staying at home and working together, by staying away from each other. It’s a weird world right now. Take care out there.
In this week’s Throwback Thursday post, “Quilt Stories: Samuelsaurus Rex,” I discuss this fabric collage portrait of my (then) three-year-old son (now almost 23!). In an effort to reflect the vivid imagination of our little boy, I used only scraps pulled from my collection, with almost no cutting or planning, in an intuitive and free-wheeling exercise.
This TBT post relates to tonight’s Thursday Night in My Studio Live! presentation. This week I’ll present a slide show of my quilt “Kaloli Moondance,” which was also created using only scraps. I’ll follow this lecture with a demonstration of using scraps (things that you probably have handy at home) in fabric collage.
On Saturday, in your regular post, the slideshow will appear in this week’s blog post update to my Quilt Story of “Kaloli Moondance.” A full version of the recorded presentation will be available on demand on Saturday for $5. Free to Thursday night registrants, so if you miss it you won’t miss out.
For an up-to-date listing of current and past presentations, visit the front page of this website and scroll down to the Thursday Night in My Studio Live! section.
