Fabric collage, as they say, is 10 percent inspiration and 90 percent perspiration.
But that 10 percent is soooo important. Especially when trying a new technique, finding a subject that inspires you can give you the motivation to keep on to the finish when you begin to struggle. (Spoiler alert: We all struggle sometimes.)
Some subjects, though, however much they inspire you, are more suitable than others. But as a beginner how are you to know?
In this week’s Throwback Thursday, I refer you back to blog post where I let my students from my October 2018 All Levels class (such as Nina Kellner with her cat’s face above) tell you how their choices worked out. If you are an attendee in one my upcoming classes, this post will no doubt be of interest to you. Or perhaps you’re just starting to dream about your first fabric collage quilt—this will help you dream in the right direction.
Fabric Collage Master Class
For instructions on the entire fabric collage process, you can purchase the Susan Carlson Fabric Collage Online Master Class Manual. Using video, photos, and text I take you from soup to nuts, beginning to end in creating your own fabric collage masterpiece.
I would like to contact Susan with pictures of the serendipity quilts I’ve made and let her know how she inspired me!!
Can I do that thru susancarlson.com?
Tonya M
Yes. Images up to 2 mb can be uploaded directly form the contact page.
Is your cat pattern available? Thanks
It’s my student Nina’s cat, so no, there is no pattern for sale. Sorry. But thanks for the reminder to add her name to the post’s introduction!
