Even though there are several weeks to go until my Captivating Cats Online Follow Along (beginning Thursday, October 29th), I was inspired over this week to start pulling fabrics (see more about that this Saturday in your new post) that will make good fabric candidates for cat fur or hair.

When I’m trying to represent hair in a collage—be it a cat, a dog, a Highland Coo, or a person—I look for designs in fabrics that have a wavy, flowy, undulating, serpentine motion—ideally—I don’t always find them for the project I have in mind, but it’s so satisfying when I do. When I don’t, I use what I have and make it work.

In this Throwback Thursday I’m sending you to a post I wrote a few years ago to finish out my trio of posts concerning various visual textures—feathers, fur, and hair—that you may encounter in creating a fabric collage.
