Wish me luck. This week during my ten-day fabric collage immersion class in Wisconsin at Woodland Ridge Retreats we will be taking a field trip to Minneapolis to visit SR Harris, a fabric store that I’ve heard is well-stocked with sheer fabrics, which I love. I may have to check another bag for my return flight!

I love sheers of all types. I love how they subtly and not-so-subtly change a fabric collage quilt by adding color, texture, and (sometimes) sparkle (see the details in my cat Djinni above). Today’s Throwback Thursday discusses how (and when) to use sheers in your fabric collage. The more you know how to use them, the more you will want to use them!

Oh, and by the way, if you have questions about using sheers or other fabric collage techniques, I will be holding another series of Open Studio Hours in May. Each Tuesday (May 5, 12,19, and 26) I will be setting aside my afternoons to provide short, half hour coaching sessions (Cost: $65). To register, follow the link below, choose a day and time slot, then email Tom ([email protected]) and he will follow up with payment details and other info.
