This week I head off to Germany with my sister to visit my family in the Frankfurt area. While there we’ll see my (nearly) ninety-four year-old Tante Lisa and reconnect with cousins and the next-gen descendants. I have been looking forward to this trip and preparing for it has consumed much my thoughts recently.
You could say travel has been on my mind.
So, I thought it would be nice to share some of my past teaching travels with you. Fabric collage has taken me as far away as New Zealand and Australia. Here in the states, it has transported me to the majestic Pacific northwest and to the deserts of the southwest.
We’ll start this week out with my most recent visit to Melbourne, Australia, and the Australasia Quilt Convention in 2019 (I’ve been lucky enough to have taught down-under three times!). Tom accompanied me on this trip so we did a little sight-seeing beforehand. Along with the many fantastic quilts, this week’s Throwback Thursday gives you a little taste of the southern part of the country, including the Twelve Apostles sea stacks (above) and plenty of Australian wildlife. A highlight for me was a visit to a dingo sanctuary where I was able to snuggle a dingo!
Next Thursday join me on a fabric collage inspired journey to another part of our amazing planet!
