Here in America, today is a day to: be thankful, to visit with our family and friends, to enjoy their company, and to feast together. To those that are reading this blog post, I wish you all of that for today and throughout the upcoming holiday season—however you celebrate this time of year.
One of the biggies that I’m thankful for in 2024, was the opportunity to exhibit 12 of my fabric collage quilts at the National Quilt Museum in Paducah, Kentucky—and they’re STILL there!
Originally the exhibit was to close by now, but I guess I’ll just have to wait until January to get them home! In the meantime, my Specimens Exhibit is hanging around in Paducah, if you have the inclination and ability, please stop by and say hi to my Specimens from me.
Special Announcement:
Specimens
has been extended through December 30, 2024!

Not only am I appreciative that the exhibit has been extended, but that I was able to travel down to see it in August, got to meet the lovely folks who run the museum, and to teach a great class all about creating some spectacular collaged fish. Fish have been a bit of a theme this year, and it’s been fun for me to get back to those fabric collage “roots”—which I’ll be diving into again in just a couple months in February’s live Fantastical Fish class—read more about that in my 2025 Classes link below.
However, today’s Throwback Thursday post will be jumping back in 2024 to “Specimens” at NQM—a short post to enjoy during a short break on a possibly busy day.
Cheers! To all of you out there, you’re on the list of whom both Tom and I am very thankful for. Happy Thanksgiving.
