What sort of fabric do I collect for fabric collage? A question I get asked all the time.

In the next couple weeks of Saturday posts, I’ll be reflecting on my recent classes at Empty Spools 2022, and thought it might be helpful to also share a couple weeks of Throwback links to posts that are most helpful when beginning a fabric collage project.

Choosing good fabrics to bring to class (or to gather when working from home) is an important step. There are several factors to consider, including color, value, pattern, and visual texture. With the nearly infinite fabric choices that are available, how do you narrow it down? What do I consider a truly useful fabric as opposed to one I just happen to like?

The post below includes two videos pointing out fabrics that I find particularly useful for fabric collage. Let me know in the comments if you find this helpful.
