After last Saturday’s post on “The Under-Appreciated Fabric Collage Spiral”, which accompanies my Thursday Night series of live presentations in which I’m creating a spiral as a sample quilt, I’m seeing spirals everywhere!

For example, in the quilt above, “Kaloli Moondance,” I included three stylized spirals: one for the moon, and a couple more to indicate wind blowing over the African plains. Read more about the making of this marabou stork “Chloë” in this week’s Throwback Thursday.

Spirals are a great way to dip your toe in the fabric collage waters. It’s a simple each-one-is-unique project that takes as much time as you want to give it, and teaches the basic skills to move forward in the fabric collage technique. My Spiral eWorkshop takes you through the process step-by-step.

It’s not too late to join in the current Thursday Night in My Studio Live! presentations—creating your fabric collage quilt in drafts: “Is It Drafty in Here?” It’s only $7 per session. You can register by clicking below. You can also catch up on previous presentations by visiting my website and scrolling down to the Thursday Night section: www.susancarlson.com.
