Having the right tools for any job makes the job easier and, let’s face it, more enjoyable. Just ask my husband to tell you about his cordless drill. Having the right scissors for fabric collage certainly is important. The ones I suggest, Gingher Appliqué Scissors may or may not be perfect for you, but lots of my students agree they work well. Maybe you’ll prefer another kind, just know that you can try another pair if yours aren’t doing exactly what you wished they would.
The post below explains why I like the “pelican-bladed” appliqué scissors. I also have a whole page listing tools and supplies that I’ve found helpful: the Fabric Collage Toolkit.
One thing that you won’t find in that toolkit is pin cushions. This week in your regular Saturday post, I’ll take a look at some of the unique and playful pin cushions brought to class by my students. Pin cushions it turns out can be a form of artistic or personal expression! Who knew?
