No, it’s not a spy story starring Tom Cruise.
The Belgian Connection refers to two fabric collage quilters from Belgium. I first met Ria Mille and Rit Verhoeven when they attended my 2012 Summer Maine Quilt Retreat. The two charming ladies were wonderful, attentive students who quickly absorbed the information I provided, as is evident from the quilts they made not only during the class but after returning home. The post features fifteen of their creations including Rit’s quilt of her grandson, Marcel, above.
This Saturday in your regular post, I’ll make another visit with Ria to see what she’s been up to since that first blog post. Using the photos of National Geographic photographer Joel Sartore as inspiration, she’s been hard at work expanding what she calls her fabric collage zoo.
Great work!
I’m impressed with how many she’s finished.
Wow! I am currently doing the projects from serendipity. I have not attended a class but I have learned a lot from the blog posts as well as the book. I am just starting the final project of the frog pond.
