I usually have a method to my madness in choosing these Throwback Thursdays. I try to find some sort of tie-in to the upcoming Saturday morning post. This post, however, had more tie-ins than usual.

The Quilt Story below features my fabric collage quilt “Dixie Dingo Dreaming.” This is a portrait of my dog, Pippin, who passed away (too early) several years ago. We just noted the 15th anniversary of her adoption, so I was thinking of her.

In the quilt I used exclusively fabrics with an Australian Aboriginal theme. And guess what? I’m returning to Australia to teach in April—so I’ve been thinking of that too.

The original post was photos and text only. Later, I updated the post with video that explains the story of the background of the piece. I’ve recently posted two Throwback Thursdays focusing on backgrounds, so this one fits in with that theme.

Lastly, and perhaps more importantly, that “Updated with Video” tag in the headline below shows that this is a post that benefitted from the support of my Patreon members, whose contributions enabled me to purchase better audio and video equipment so that I could produce more and improved video about my fabric collage quilts, such as the one included in this post.

What is Patreon you ask? It’s a platform that allows my readers to support the blog and other endeavors by making a small monthly contribution. One of the more exciting developments planned for the next year is the first in a series of Online Master Class Manual Modules. These fabric collage projects will give step-by-step instructions for a specific project, such as a sea turtle or a fish or a person. This Saturday, in your regular post, I’ll go into more detail about Patreon and my fabric collage goals.

For now, here’s your Throwback Thursday for this week.
