As I explain in today’s Throwback Thursday, I spent several of my early years as a fabric collage artist creating “trophy” fish quilts. These small pieces were simple to transport, quick to make, and (most importantly) inexpensive to purchase. It didn’t take too long before I realized that instead of making fish I could be teaching people to make their own.

Which is what I was doing at the Seven Sisters Quilt Show the last week in June—teaching a two-day Fish, Bug, and Butterfly Class (along with a three-day Serendipity Turtle Class). This Saturday, I’ll share my experience at Seven Sisters in my regular weekly blog post.

Fish Patterns

Make your own trophy fish! Several of the fish you see in the above blog post (and some other creatures) are available as patterns on my website. These are intended to be used with fabric collage, not a traditional template-style quilt. They are perfect for non-realistic, playful representations.
