Four years ago in 2019 on this very date we ran the post below. I had recently been out to Pacific Grove, California to teach at Empty Spools Seminars and this post covered the first of two weeks teaching and exploring at that beautiful location. In general, my “On the Road Teaching” blog posts act as a journaling of my fabric collage teaching travels.

A quick review of the post and it brings back memories of that trip, of the students and of the colleagues I reunited with. I especially miss the early morning long (and fast!) walks my fellow teaching buddies and I would take—we had a lot of ground to cover before classes began each day. I did return to Empty Spools for a couple 2022 sessions since that time, but stayed close to home this year due to my mom.

One of these days I may return to Asilomar. For now I’m glad I have the On the Road posts to stir my memories. In the opening paragraph in the post below is a link to another Throwback Thursday which will send you back in time to 2016, 2017, and 2018 for six other Empty Spools weeks. If you’re feeling the need for a bit of armchair travel and lots of inspiration from my fantastic students, you’re at the right place. Just sit back, get comfy, and enjoy with a cuppa or two.
