When last we saw “Winfrieda,” my eight-foot tall lace polar bear (above), I had just completed what I call the first “draft.” I had completely blocked in her body. However, I wasn’t close to being done. The work to follow is just as important, as I polish, fix up and edit what I have down. I do have a motto of “More is Better”—and I certainly will be adding more to Winfrieda’s first-draft.

If this process interests you, if you want to follow along as I identify and address problem areas, as well as those parts that are working, I am holding two Fly on the Wall sessions, one at the beginning of March and one at the beginning of April, where I’ll invite you into my studio to watch and learn about second and third drafts. See how this sort of fine tuning affects the final results of a fabric collage quilt.

Each session lasts approximately an hour and a quarter and will be recorded so that participants may review or catch up if they are unable to attend.
