Last week in this space we shared a post about creating fur in fabric collage quilts of your animal friends. This week, as I am teaching an animals-only class virtually and helping people apply their fur-making skills, I’m already thinking ahead to another live online class in March where the subjects will all be people. And just as animals very often have fur, male-pattern balding aside, most people have hair. Long hair, cropped hair, curly hair—how do we make it look like hair when our only tool is fabric?
Today’s post shows several examples of fabric collage hair. Maybe one of the solutions you see will work for you!

I am wondering if i can use the tacky glue on a quilt i plan to use and wash.
I live the convenience of using the glue and have used it in wall hanging collage quilts.
I hope using it in a collage quilt that will serve as an actual bed quilt would not cause a problem when washed.
Don’t do it! Tacky Glue is water soluble. Perhaps there’s another glue out there that might do that, but there’s nothing I have experience with or can recommend.
