What supplies do I need to bring to class? That’s an often-asked question in the weeks leading up to my in-person classes, such as the pair of classes I am teaching in Santa Fe, NM as this post lands in your inbox.

What’s absolutely necessary and what can be optional? The Fabric Collage Toolkit helps you decide. It gives a an overview of the most essential items and those that will be helpful later in the process so you can leave them at home. A brief description of each tells you what makes them important. There’s even a handy link to Amazon.com if you want to place an order (for which I receive a small percentage, though it does not add to your total charge).

Having appropriate tools definitely make the process easier. Two of the most essential for fabric collage of course are glue and scissors. Many times over the years I’ve been asked “Can I use this glue instead of Aleene’s Tacky Glue?” or “Can I use my favorite sheers instead of duck-billed appliqué scissors?” and I always reply that they can use whatever works for them, though this is what I like to use and why.

The Fabric Collage Toolkit lists and describes the materials and tools that have worked for me for over thirty years. If you’re just starting your fabric collage journey or if you’d like some tips, you may find some hints and suggestions in the Fabric Collage Toolkit.
