Tonight on this week’s Thursday Night in My Studio Live!, I’m talking about improvisational fabric collage faces. I’ll be showing a couple of pieces I’ve been working on the last couple weeks, which will introduce the next three presentations in the Live! series: The Nose (May 14), The Eyes (May 21), and The Mouth (May 28). Since this week’s theme is faces, I thought it would be appropriate share a previous Finish Line blog post—”Portraits.” The portraits you see in this post, such as Kelly Stockwell’s portrait of her husband Bob (above), are very inspirational but could easily appear intimidating in their mastery. Hopefully I can take some of the scariness out of fabric collage portraiture with practice exercises introduced in this month’s series of Thursday Night in My Studio Live! presentations.
