Quilters come to my fabric collage classes with their subjects in hand: their pets, other large animals, their relatives, and so on. They work hard and sometimes stress out about their quilts. After the class, they look at my pre-made patterns of fish, bugs, butterflies, and other creatures and begin to understand how fun it would be to do something simple and un-stressful.
