I like to choose these Throwback Thursdays so that they lead into the week’s new post. This Saturday I’ll be talking about the opening reception for my show of fabric collage quilts at the New England Quilt Museum in Lowell, MA. This show is a sort-of retrospective, with quilts from very early in my career to my most recent work.

So I chose “Dain” (pictured above) for this post since it’s in the show and represents a real turning point for me. I see this quilt as my first fabric collage quilt, raw-edged and glued-down, that led me to how I work today. And though it’s quite mild in fabric selection compared to what I do these days, I was quite pleased to use patterned fabric in a face—plaid as a five o’clock shadow!
