Saturday, October 20 was the opening reception for my show at the New England Quilt Museum. I was there at 1:00 p.m. to give a short slide presentation. Afterward I hung out in the gallery answering questions and meeting with old friends and new.

To accompany that event, this week’s Throwback Thursday takes a look at “Crocodylus Smylus.” This quilt is of course one of the stars of the show. Her size alone makes her hard to overlook. In a future blog post, I’ll be covering the opening reception for everyone to see.

I’ve actually written several posts about “Stevie” as I call her. There are three posts about making the quilt, and then a couple others talking about shows she’s been in and so on. The link below takes you to her “Quilt Story” where you can choose which posts you’d like to read.

  • Hi Susan, I first saw Stevie at the Houston International show. After visiting with you there, i was inspired to take your online master class. That was exactly what I needed to. It has given me a new way to look at my art process, expand my thinking and learning. For the first time i feel free to explore. Your method is liberating! I have completed my first piece and love the process. Thank you so much for teaching us how to look at art in different ways. Thank you thank you. N

  • I’m sure those making the effort to see your work in Lowell will be blown away!
