Coming up on the regular Saturday blog post I’ll cover my trip to Alegre Retreat at Gateway Canyons Resort. This desert-oasis retreat in western Colorado brought to mind another trip to the desert, MISA-West at the Tanque Verde resort in Tucson, AZ in January 2017. The desert is such a contrast to the forested landscapes I grew up in and currently live in. It is beautiful, but in a completely unique way. And of course, escaping the Maine winter to a warm climate for a week or so ain’t too hard to take either.

Tanque Verde is a winter home for MISA, Madeline Island School of the Arts, whose headquarters is located on Madeline Island in Lake Superior off the coast of Wisconsin. MISA is a bit different from other retreats I do in that they provide classes in a variety of media, not just quilting. For example, this year there will be classes in watercolors, hand dyeing, and creative writing.

I’ll be returning to Tanque Verde in January 2019 and I was just informed there are a few spots open still. If you’re interested, here are a couple links for more information:
