Another celebration of pets, this time with a light-hearted view of them as idols in their own shrines. If I could, I’d provide a home for every homeless and abused animal out there—domestic or wild. As it is, I manage three or four (domestic versions) at a time. At the making of this quilt, we had three pets, each a different species, so naturally each needed their own space. And each needed to be surrounded by a golden light, appropriate to the little princesses that they are. Though these are portraits of our pets, they’ve proved to have a universal appeal to others who understand how precious these unique members of our families are to all of us.
I love this quilt and your description. God bless the helpless little creatures of the world. They are truly special. Thanks for sharing.
God has put a strong love of animals on my heart and rightly so. At the moment we have 5 dogs and there’s a story behind that. At any rate, I love these dogs beyond words and want to provide the best care there is. I want to attempt a collage of them and have a quilt of my beloved black lab who began his life for training to be a guide dog for the blind. I kept him in our home for approximately 16 months and then returned him back to the kennel for further training. End of story, the kennel decided to close its doors and several of the dogs had not been placed so I was able to see his life to the end. All was a blessing to me. Just started the collage technique at a retreat 2 weeks ago and have purchased 2 of your patterns. When I finish “Sophia” the seahorse I am going to make your Pond Mandala.
